Royal legend Sharmila Tagore at Raj Jewels
It was a historical moment when Bollywood’s most iconic legend Sharmila Tagore graced the Raj Jewels showroom and the Bansal family, the afternoon of June 9th. The ‘Kashmir ki kali” star, who entered the Indian film world in the 70s is one of the most inspiring film actresses in the industry. Besides her evergreen beauty and divine presence, Tagore, is known for her role as a philanthropist and has been awarded with the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India. She was the brand ambassador for the 2016 annual CRY Gala Dinner, part of Cry America, Inc., an organization, created to assist underprivileged children in India.
Raj Jewels Bansal Group, a sponsor of the CRY Gala Dinner event, was honored to host a 'Meet and Greet' session with the legendary Sharmila Tagore at the showroom. Bobby Bansal and the team gave her an exclusive tour of the showroom and jewelry collection, as astonished onlookers gazed from a far. Tagore was allured by the diverse gold and diamond jewelry selection, especially the concept of interchangeable stones for women who are looking to match the desired outfit.
“There is a varied range to satisfy every taste and budget at Raj Jewels. I couldn’t find anything that I didn’t like. I love jhumkas and you will be amazed with the huge collection they have here,” she said. When asked, what is her advice to the American youth on buying jewelry at Raj Jewels, she said, “There is always a special occasion in one’s life whether it is graduation or wedding and what better way to celebrate than with jewelry.”
Buying Jewelry is a cherished Indian tradition, explained Tagore. “As per Indian beliefs, jewelry is something that stays with you, traditionally known as Stree Dhan (Women’s treasure).” She also went on to speak on the perception of resale value of jewelry, “We don’t really sell our jewelry but rather keep it with us. Whichever way you look at it, as an investment or a treasure of memories, it is something that you can handover to your children.”
After viewing the showroom and collection, Tagore and the Bansal family enjoyed a catered lunch where they were able to interact with her in a more intimate setting. Later the fans and the Raj Jewels team had a one-on-one photo session opportunity with her in the in-house photo studio. Hundreds of fans were anxiously waiting to get a glimpse of the star; in the crowd a young girl, (who was also an inspiring actress), waited almost 4 hours to meet her and Tagore kindly gave her a few helpful pointers to break into the industry.
Raj Jewels, was honored to collaborate with Tagore and Cry America, Inc., to support such a great cause. The gala dinner was a grand success, backed by Tagore’s loyal support, a champion for children’s rights. The royal star looked stunning in a three-layer designer diamond necklace by Raj Jewels as she graced the audience with her moving speech. The highlight of the evening was the live auction to raise additional money for the underprivileged children. Four donated diamond jewelry items from Raj Jewels Bansal Group were auctioned both live and silently at the CRY Gala Dinner on June, 10th. The proceeds will go toward funding the organization to aid the development and future of needy children in India.
A warm and gracious thanks to Cry America, Inc., and Sharmila Tagore. “We are esteemed to be a part of their humble mission,” announced Bobby Bansal.
